Timothy Louis Bonwell

Timothy Louis Bonwell (Tim) passed away at home on March 31, 2024 due to complications from a malignant melanoma, with his wife Sarah by his side.
He was born in Albia, Iowa to Melvin (Bud) and Ruth Bonwell. At the age of 12 his family moved to Huntington Beach, California. Tim joined the Army in 1968, providing intelligence to the South Vietnamese until his discharge in 1970. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and was honored by the South Vietnamese with whom he worked.
Tim earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Cal State Fullerton and his Master’s in Psychology from Central Washington University. He provided mental health services in Spokane, Colville, and for 22 years in Yakima, where he was the Supervisor of Acute Care Services at Comprehensive Mental Health, providing crisis intervention. He was a mentor to many mental health professionals and mental health assistants.
Tim and Sarah Wert were married on Friday, April 13, 1984 (their lucky day!). He is survived by his loving wife Sarah, his sisters Bonnie DeWit, Terri Ferrise-Bonwell (Sarah), brothers Tony (Michele), Toby (Erin), and Sarah’s brothers and their spouses. He was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Tommy.
A special “thank you” to our supportive and gracious neighbors, who greeted Tim’s final days at home with pots of flowers on our front porch and warm sentiments, as well as all those who provided care at Sacred Heart Medical Center and Hospice of Spokane. He will be missed
