Duane Richard (Dick) Wamstad
Dick Wamstad passed away in Spokane just three days following his 75th birthday. Just one week later, his adored daughter Melissa Skordoulis passed away after fighting a long hard, battle with Sarcoma (cancer). Melissa’s deteriorating medical condition literally broke his heart.
Dick married Janet Landry in 1969 and together they had four lovely daughters. He is survived by his three daughters; Amy Story of Des Plaines, Illinois, Denise Allen (Kent) of Chicago Illinois, and Sherri Berger (Matt) of Peoria, Illinois, and his son-in-law, Mike Skordoulis of Jacksonville, N.C. Dick also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren; Emma, John, Jack, Madison, Danielle, Jessie, Ernie, Lacie & Sadie. He is also survived by his brother Dale Wamstad (Colleen) of Dallas, TX, sisters Mary Troxel (Gailen) of Waterville, WA, and Linda Dean (Jim) of Spokane, WA and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Cliff & Helen Wamstad, and by his brother David Wamstad.
Dick attended St. Aloysius grade school in Spokane and Holy Cross High School in New Orleans. Prior to his marriage, Dick served in the U.S. Navy, something that he was always proud of. Following that, he had a career in insurance sales. Dick was quick to smile and laugh and quickly made friends wherever he went. He will be deeply missed.
The family is celebrating Dick’s life at 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 31st at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division, Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorial gifts go to Mid-City Concerns Meals on Wheels in Spokane or the Sarcoma Foundation of America, Inc.
