Gregory R Bell

March 25, 1954 ~ March 16, 2017 (age 62) 62 Years Old

BELL, Gregory R. (age 62) was born March 25, 1954 in Saint Paul, MN and passed away peacefully in his home in Colbert, WA, surrounded by his family on March 16, 2017.  Greg fought a valiant ten year battle with a brain tumor.  He underwent brain surgery, radiation and various forms of chemotherapy.  He maintained a very positive outlook on life with his mottos being “Life is good” and “It is what it is”.

Greg was self-employed for forty-one years and was a very well-known excavator.  He was a legend, widely known for his backhoe work on various jobsites throughout Spokane.  Greg had a love and passion for his beautiful property along the Little Spokane River.  He loved sharing his property with family and friends, also having hosted numerous weddings.

Greg was also an avid waterfowl hunter and a thirty year member of the Old Eddie Bauer Duck Club.  Greg and his best friend Rod started hunting pheasants in 1977, switching to ducks ten years later.

Greg was a devoted husband and loving father.  One of his greatest joys was spending time with family.  He was also known for his unending sarcasm and wonderful sense of humor.  He will be greatly missed.

Greg is survived by his wife of forty years, Elaine; two sons, Jordan (Kirsten) and grandbaby Charlotte due in May, Justin (Joy), granddaughter Madison and grandson Mason; his brothers Steve an Dave; sisters Virginia and Janet.  Preceded in death by a brother Joel.

The family would like to thank Kelly and Mary with Hospice of Spokane for their compassion, expertise and love of what they do.  A huge thank you to Dr. Gourley and his staff; Nancy, Kim, Laurie, Vicki, Ann Marie and everyone else.  Dr. Gourley, thank you for giving us sixteen more months with Greg.  You really listened and encouraged him.  His goal was to beat this tumor.

Thank you to our many friends for the food, calls, cards, visits and especially big thanks to family members Justin, Joy, Jordan, Kirsten, Janet and friend Ann.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1 P.M. at Hennessey Funeral Home 2203 N Division Spokane, WA.
