Gaffney, James Michael “Jim” was born on September 12, 1937 in Sprague, WA to James & Elizabeth Gaffney.  He is survived by his daughters: Kathryn (Marc) Savaria of Snohomish, WA, Theresa (Danial) Miller and Rose (Ivan) Corley of Spokane, WA,: grandchildren Kelsi Malacon, Athena Miller, Anthony Corley, Alyssa Corley-Smith, Devin Corley and Dominick Coley and great-grandchildren Declan Malacon and Lucian Malacon, and a sister Rosalie Boileau.  Jim was preceded in death by his wife Patricia and brothers Robert and Roy.  Jim lived in the Spokane area his entire life and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.  He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.  He loved to hunt and fish, make home-made wine and join his friends for a cup of coffee.   Jim started his career as a barber, which he continued as a hobby at home for friends and family for another 20 years.  He worked for the City of Spokane for 35 years.  His first two years were with the Solid Waste Collection Department.  He transferred to the Street Department in 1966 where he finished his career 33 years later in 1999.  Jim had to miss several Christmas Day celebrations on years where there was excessive snow fall when he had to work 12 hour shifts for several days.   Jim was an avid story teller and he loved to joke around.  He brought laughter and joy to many people.  His easy-going personality made him ready to go along with anything his family was doing; spending time with his family was something he cherished more than anything.  Memorial contribution in his memory may be sent to American Diabetes Association, 2815 Eastlake Ave. East, Seattle,WA 98102. Please leave condolence messages for the family.
