Jerilyn Ann Pape Gray, 73, of Liberty Lake, WA lost her battle with cancer passing peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2017.

Jerilyn was born to Henry and Freda Pape on July 7, 1944 in Oakland, California.  She graduated from Buhl High School in 1962 and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from the University of Idaho in 1966. She married Kristian Wales in 1967 and they lived together in El Paso, TX, Darby, MT, and Spokane, WA.  Together they raised two children, Kent and Amy.  They were divorced in 1977.  Jerilyn met the love of her life Malcom Gray in 1984 while working as a moving estimator for U-haul.  They went on three dates, and as she said, Malcom never left her side again.  They were married and lived in Spokane Valley, WA, parts unknown for 5 years in their motor coach and Liberty Lake, WA.

She leaves as her legacy: husband, Malcom Gray, son Kent Wales and wife Monica, daughter Amy Wales-Friemel and husband Joedy, their daughter Emma, step-daughter Cindy Ehrlich and husband Seth and their daughters Caeley and Cameron, step-son Marc Gray and wife Lorraine and their daughters Micaiah and Jessa.  Jerilyn’s family remembers her as a very smart and driven woman. She was also known as the captain of her own ship.

Jerilyn was preceded in death by her father, Henry Pape and her mother, Freda Pape.

Jerilyn was a teacher in Texas, Idaho and Washington. She worked in sales for the Spokane Chamber of Commerce and multiple moving companies, and was a homemaker. One of her hobbies was to try new recipes and new ingredients to wow family and friends from the kitchen.  She loved her schnauzer Riley and enjoyed the many years that she and Malcom spent traveling the Northwest fly fishing and camping. They spent five glorious years RV-ing around the United States.

A Celebration of Life and reception in honor of Jerilyn Gray is scheduled for December 2nd at 1:00pm at the Clubhouse of the Liberty Lake Estates – on Clearwater Lane, just off of S. Liberty Lake Road.  Guests are invited to bring a memory of Jerilyn to share with friends and family.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alzhiemer’s Association of Washington at https://www.alz.org/alzwa/
