Joanne F. Ringwood (86) died on Thursday, February 9, 2018, in Spokane, WA. She was born in Spokane on November 4, 1931. She attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and graduated from Marycliff High School. After attending Kelsey-Baird Secretarial School, she went to work at Boyd-Conlee Grain Company in Spokane. She met her future husband, John P. (Jack) Ringwood, at a dance at Sprague Lake and they married on May 5, 1951, in San Diego, CA. As a Navy bride, Joanne traveled with her husband to Washington, D.C., Hawaii, and Bellingham, WA. In 1954, her permanent home became Sprague, on the farm, where she resided until she and Jack moved to Spokane in 2004. She worked for Sprague School District #8 and the Sprague Grange Supply. Joanne is survived by daughters Kathy Brown of Spokane, Teri O’Leary (Jeff Cummings) of West Linn, OR, and Irene Ringwood (Bob Hayes) of Davidsonville, MD; along with grandchildren, Jaime Shimek of Washington, D.C., Danielle O’Leary (Brian Mundell) of Graham, WA, Tracy Brown, Lisa Shimek and Jason Shimek of Spokane, Sean O’Leary and fiancée Maegen McAuliffe of Olympia, WA, Jennifer Klosteridis (Nick), Leah Heise (Todd), Nathan Hayes (Alyssa) all of Catonsville, MD; and great-grandchildren, Lily Brown-Hayes, Cameron Hood, Brayden Burnette, Brielle Burnette, Cora Mundell, Mikhali Klosteridis, Alex Klosteridis, Eva Klosteridis, Sydney Heise, Ally Heise and Charlie Hayes. She was preceded in death by husband Jack in 2013, daughter Carol Shimek in 2000, granddaughter Meghan O’Leary in 2003, and sister Betty Gaffney in 2011. A Vigil Service will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held also at St. Charles Catholic Church on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 11:00 am, followed by a social gathering. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the House of Charity or the charity of your choice.
