Joseph Neil Turner

April 11, 1932 ~ March 13, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

On March 13, 2017; our beloved Joseph (Joe) Neil Turner spread his wings and left this world peacefully, in the comfort of his home. Joe was a beloved father (in-law), husband, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.  Many knew Joe as a kindhearted and caring man, however those who knew him best, are aware of that boyish grin that comes along with his mischievous ideas. He had a strong passion for hunting, fishing, coin collecting, and sharing stories of his lifetime adventures with his family. Joe was born April 11, 1932 in Casper Wyoming.  Relocating to Spokane, WA with his family, Joe attended Sacred Heart Elementary, and later graduated from Gonzaga High School. Afterwards, Joe enlisted in, and served 3 years in the Navy, most of which was in active duty combat during the Korean War. Joe’s entire career was with the Burlington Northern Railroad, where he secured an electricians apprenticeship after returning home from the Navy. Joe married the love of his life, Mary Irene Turner (Porter) in 1973. Joe and Irene had two children, John “JJ” Turner and Mary “Maggie” Campbell (Turner). Joe is predeceased by his parents, William and Margaret Turner (McPhee), Sister/Nancy Turner, Brother/William Turner and beloved wife, Irene Turner. Joe is survived and adored by many; his sister in law, Lavena Turner, his children, John “JJ” Turner, Mary “Maggie” Campbell (Turner), and SIL/Clark Campbell. His grandchildren, who all loved their “gramps”; Charlene, Marlene, Paige, Gage, Cynthia, Alex and Neenah. His great-grandchildren, who always brought a smile to his face; Daiton, Dominic, Dawson, Julien and Oz. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 12-7pm. A vigil will be held at 7PM. Both events will be held at Hennessy Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division. On Wednesday, March 22, 2017 mass will be held at 10AM at St. Xavier Parish 545 E. Providence. A special thanks to Hospice of Spokane. Thank you for your support and guidance during this journey.
