Josephine Ann “Josie” Stimson was born on March 18,1926 in Spokane, Washington to John Ivan Pavelich and Mary Elizabeth (Gerbich) Pavelich. She passed away on October 2, 2017. Josie was born in Spokane, Washington although she grew up in Kellogg, Idaho where she attended both elementary and schools. She graduated from Warner-Kellogg High School in 1944 after which she attended the University of Idaho where she became a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. After one year of college she moved to Spokane and began working for the Northern Pacific Railroad where she met and married her much-loved husband, Harry “Ed” Stimson, Jr. in June 14,1947 to which she married for 65 years until his passing on January 20, 2013. Josie’s interest were varied to include music, dancing, travel, and animals. In addition to her husband, she as preceded in death by her parents, her sister Matilda DeGabriele and Andrew Pavelich. Her sister Katherine Davis, of Seattle, Washington, passed away on October 9,2017. Josie is survived by her daughters Carol Stimson of Seattle, Washington and Lynn Stimson of Albany, Oregon along with nieces Lisa Florio (Jim) and Rita DeGabriele of Seattle, Washington. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, 1115 West Riverside, Spokane with Inurnment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 North Wall, Spokane. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Catholic Charities of Spokane or Spokane Humane Society
