Karen was a lifelong resident of Spokane. She was born to Earl and Marie Witter of Witter's Greenhouse on the South Hill. As a child she enjoyed working in the greenhouse and gardens alongside her parents and siblings. She attended Adams Elementary and McKinley School.

In her adult life, Karen spent many years volunteering for the Salvation Army and the Second Harvest Food Bank. She was also a longtime member of Providence Adult Day Health. She enjoyed attending church and singing hymns. She loved coffee, music, puzzles, and was a fierce bingo player. She loved all animals, but especially dogs (and movies featuring them) and enjoyed spoiling her beloved chihuahua Pepper. She will be remembered for her infectious smile that so easily lit up her face, and for her joyous laugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Marie, and siblings Lawrence, Marie Nible, Don, Richard, Gary, and Bob. She is survived by siblings Marge Andrews, Paul Witter, Marilyn Nible, Diane Stoaks, Butch Witter, and Lynn Pearson as well as numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.

There will be no funeral services for Karen; instead the family would like for those who wish to remember her to spend a day as Karen would have: smiling, laughing, being joyful and showing kindness to others. Get a coffee with a friend, volunteer your time, spend time with your family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Karen’s name to SpokAnimal. Special Thanks to her Alderwood Manor family.

“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy."
