Streeter, Katherine Florence “Katie”

Katie Streeter passed away on September 16, 2017. She was born in Spokane on November 23, 1952. Katie grew up in the Spokane Valley and  graduated from Central Valley High School in 1971. Katie attended Washington State University and North Idaho College to obtain her Registered Nurse Certificate. After working at Sacred Heart Medical Center for four years, she returned to the University of Washington and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Katie then worked for 32 years as a Psychiatric Nurse for Harborview Medical Center, St Francis Hospital in Federal Way and Group Health in Tacoma. Katie lived in the Seattle area for 32 years and is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Mielenz of Tacoma, WA. Katie’s two sisters, Becky Mc Farland and MaryJo Olson, reside in Spokane, where she moved in 2012 to try and keep them in line. Katie was an avid card shark and loved a good game of Poker or Bridge. She loved to learn a new game and often had to be reminded of the lateness of the hour! Over the years she had many dogs and cats, often in multiple quantities. Her house was full of furry babies, who were cared for as family and loved dearly. Her home was always open to folks who needed a place to stay for a while. She shared generously with people in need. Katie counted her niece, Maggie, and nephews, Ian and Chris, as her own babies and was the BEST Auntie ever!!! Remembrances for Katie may be made to Hospice of Spokane, any Mental Health Facility or The Humane Society.
