Welcome to the memorial page for

Richard Joseph Weber

November 13, 1931 ~ February 23, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Dick was born on a wheat farm in Uniontown, WA on November 13, 1931, to John and Marguerite Weber. There, with his 8 siblings, he learned the life-long qualities of hard work, honesty, and faithfulness to God.  After graduation from St. Boniface he studied for the priesthood, but God had other plans for him. He received a degree from Gonzaga University and later his MBA.  After working in Seattle for Boeing, he was transferred to Washington D.C. were he was privileged with working on the Apollo project. Before this move, Dick met his future wife Bette.  She was taken by this "good man with an infectious smile". They embarked on a short long-distance courtship, where on September 22, 1968 they were married and last Fall quietly celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.  Following the "Big Boeing Lay-off" they returned to Spokane and he became a commercial appraiser for Spokane County where he worked until he was 70.

Together, Dick and Bette raised four children in Spokane Valley.  He was a hard-working and devoted husband and father who had deep love and pride for his family.  Dick was a model of goodness, kindness, honesty, hard work, and devotion to God.  He worked diligently at keeping a big yard neat and green, tackling projects of all kinds around the house, tending to, over the years, 5 different dogs, and being a good wholesome family man. He was able to value the simple things in life like no other. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, Serra Club of Spokane, and loved to watch a good Gonzaga basketball game.  He spent the last 2 years of his life at Sunshine Gardens Care Center.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Marion, Jack, Father Dan, Bob, Jim, and Joe, and his sister, Rita. He is survived by his wife, Bette; children, Tony (Claudia), Michael (Elisa), Marcus, and Christina; grandchildren, Chloe Belle, Maria Teresa, and Jonathan Michael; his sister, MaryAnn and his brother, Martin and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff and care-givers at Sunshine Gardens for their kindness and compassionate care of our dear husband and father.  We will so much miss his wonderful presence and his big smile, hearty laugh, and innate goodness.

He was a great man who will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to share his company. The way he lived his life surely secured him the highest place in heaven. Richard, Dick, Dad, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend we will all miss you. We all love you.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution, in his name, be made to Immaculate Heart Retreat House (6910 Ben Burr Rd, Spokane, WA 99223) or the charity of your choice.
