Adelaide Frances Younker

Adelaide Frances Younker was born in Ritzville Washington on August 6, 1914 and passed peacefully while sleeping in her home of over 60 years on June 1, 2021 at the age of 106.

Adelaide graduated from North Central High School in 1932. She loved reminiscing about dancing at The Gardens in downtown Spokane with her cousins Violet and Iva Mae. She met Joseph Younker dancing at the VFW, and they wed October 13,1944. They shared 67 years of marriage and had 2 children: Jayceen and Arlen.

Adelaide liked to garden, loved to walk the hills in her neighborhood and shared the joy of trailer camping with her husband. She loved to sew, crochet and bake. Adelaide delighted in making blinnas and gingersnap cookies for visiting family, and has passed on these traditions. She adored her yard and enjoyed being outside as well as taking car rides along the river. When asked about the secret to her long life, her standard reply was “Because I never got my driver’s license”. She was very welcoming and her front door was always open.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Jayceen Beese in 2018. She is survived by son Arlen , grandchildren Emily ( Simon ) Russell and Randy ( Erin) great grandchildren Boddie, Cortez, Trustin, Ashley, Maddox and Mason. Great great grandchild Mcallan. Adelaide was greatly loved and will be missed by all.

Adelaide family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Sunday June 13 from 2-6 at 5929 N Fotheringham, Spokane, WA. 99205 for people to pay their respects.
