          Arlene Regina (Lauer) Bascetta 87 our beloved Mother and Grammie left this earthly life on the 13th of November, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. Arlene was the heart and soul of her family. She had a heart of gold that touched everyone that had a chance to know her. The family was everything to Arlene, she loved them unconditionally.

          Arlene was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on March 11, 1931. She was one of six siblings born to Wilfred and Adeline Lauer. At a young age, she moved with her family to Spokane, WA where she resided till her passing. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes for grade school and graduated from Marycliff High school. She also attended Oregon State University. As a young girl, she worked in Browne's Addition at the Elk drug store. As an adult, she began a 30-year career with Bouten Construction co., where Arlene held a seat on the Board of Directors. In June of 1953, she was blessed with her beloved son James Joseph Bascetta. He was the light of her life and they had an amazing Mother/Son bond.

          Arlene was active in her community and church. She was a Spokane Chiefs fan and used to work in the ticket office. She enjoyed tending to her garden and making homemade goodies for her grandchildren. She was a devoted Catholic and attended Our Lady of Lourdes. Her family was everything to Arlene, she loved family gatherings and attending her grandkids' sporting games and events.

          She is survived by her son James J.Bascetta (Marcia); her sister Betty Coan and brothers Robert (Gail) Lauer and Harry (Lynn) Lauer. Arlene had four grandsons Daniel Bascetta, David (Sara) Bascetta, Andrew (Sybrina) Bascetta and Mark (Amber) Bascetta;  9 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

          Arlene was preceded in death by her parents Wilfred and Adeline Lauer as well as her brother Bill Lauer and sister Donna Hair.

          A viewing will be at Hennessey Funeral Home 2203 N. Division St. Spokane, WA 99207 on Monday, November 19th at 6 pm, with a Rosary to follow at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes on Tuesday, November 20th at 12 (Noon). A reception will immediately follow in the lower level of the church. A private family burial will take place on Wednesday.

          All service arrangements have been taken care of by Hennessey Funeral Home.
