Beverly Joyce Robinson

October 7, 1927 ~ January 1, 2022 (age 94)

Beverly Joyce Robinson, 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 1, 2022 in Spokane, WA.

Beverly was born October 7, 1927, in Normal, Illinois, to Josephine (Beckworth) and Clarence Outram.  She lived her early years in Normal and in Long Point, Illinois.  In 1943 the family moved to Gardner, Illinois, where she lived for over 50 years.  Beverly graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University and from St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago as a registered nurse. She worked several years in small hospitals in southern Illinois and later devoted 22 years of nursing at the Fox Center Home for special needs children in Dwight, Illinois. Her kindness and compassion for others overflowed into all areas of her family and community life.

In 1951 she married Lewis Robinson.  They raised three children and made their permanent home in Gardner, Illinois.  Traveling adventures soon began and the family lived one year in Finland where Lewis was a Fulbright Exchange teacher, and later, a year in Denmark.  Beverly enjoyed many years of travel experiences with family and friends.
In 2003 she moved to Spokane to be near her 3 children.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Lewis, a son-in-law Randy Bauer, and daughter Gwenda, and a sister- and brother-in-law, Rosemary and William King.  She is survived by son Martin Robinson and daughter-in-law Jan, daughter Joyce Robinson, son-in-law Larry Pancoast.  Grandchildren Matt (Kim) Robinson, Nathan (Julie) Robinson, Sierra Pancoast, and Sara Bauer.  Two great-granddaughters, Geneveve and Xena, one nephew, two nieces and numerous cousins, including the "Long Point" cousins.

In Illinois, she was a longtime member of Gardner Presbyterian Church (the Church of Hope), Lions Club, and I-Care International. She also served as a Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader.   In Spokane she was a member of Shadle Park Presbyterian Church and enjoyed working on various charitable projects with her church friends.

Beverly was an avid reader, crossword and puzzle player, and faithfully watched "Jeopardy".  She was blessed with a sharp mind until the end.

Beverly was a respected, strong, independent woman who quietly lived her faith and never stopped striving to be a better person. She was slow to anger and quick to celebrate the joys of life. She will always be an inspiration and role model to those who knew her.

Beverly was cremated in Spokane, and a service may be planned for the family in the future.
