Shortly after in 1957, she married the boy next door, Cecil James Pounder Jr. Together they raised a large, happy family all while building a successful business. A business that would go on to create so many true friends that originally started as Customers. Colleen and Jim would go on to have 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Nana, as she became known, loved all her grand and great grandchildren and could regularly be counted on for a full report on how great they were doing or how adorable they are.
Throughout Colleen’s life she was passionate about being involved with many charitable organizations. She was the past Treasurer of the Central Spokane Lyon’s Club; the past President of Holy Names Academy Alumni Association; Served on the Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society; Worked as a Hospice volunteer; A member of the Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary; and volunteered at St. Luke’s Extended Care. Her empathy and compassion for anyone she encountered was radiant. Eventually her gift of giving became known as the “Monday morning call” which consisted of a spiritual message and a blessing, followed up with “I love you, have a great day” This ministry on her part would continually grow into a weekly call list of 180 people approximately.
