Dale Vernon Merkel

Dale Merkel was born on January 18th,1935, and peacefully passed away on September 27th, 2021. Dale was a man of courage and strength. Dale was a master carpenter and served in the Army and National Guard. After many years as a carpenter, Dale went to work at Sacred Heart Hospital, where he retired from in 1998. Some of Dale's hobbies included woodworking, using his craftsmanship to create beautiful grandfather clocks, working on his 1949 Buick, and working in his yard caring for his favorite pink petunias. Dale was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He was a man anyone could look up to. Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Peggy Merkel. Dale is survived by his daughter, Sherry (Steve) Murphy, son, Chris (Lori) Merkel, and four grandchildren: Justin (Gabrielle) Murphy, Cameron (Yvette) Murphy, Gunnar and Greta Merkel. Dale was nothing short of a great man and will be remembered by many. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Hennessey Funeral Home & Crematory, 2203 N Division St, Spokane, Washington.
