Tribute

Delorus “Dee” Barber, long time resident of Spokane, passed away peacefully on December 16th at the age of 96. She was born on August 5, 1924 in Uniontown, WA, one of 11 children of Bill and Barbara Dahmen. She grew up in Moscow, Idaho, graduating from Moscow High School. She graduated from nurse’s training with an RN from St. Ignatius hospital in Colfax. While working as a nurse in Pullman, she met Tom Barber on a blind date, and they were married in 1947. Together they raised children Claudia and Michael in Seattle and Spokane. She was a long time member of Manito Golf and Country Club, where she was an avid bridge player and golfer, and once even had a hole in one. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima parish since 1960. After Tom’s death in 2005, she moved to Touchmark South Hill, and lived there happily for over a decade. She had many friends over the years, and loved being a mother and homemaker. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by daughter Claudia Barnings (John), son Michael Barber (Sherri), grandchildren Erin Mueller (Blaine), Alexandra Barber (Matthew Bridenbaugh), and Thomas Barber, brothers Glen Dahmen and Norman Dahmen, and sister Vi Perdue. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Tom Barber, and 7 of her siblings.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
