 Donna Marie (Etter) Jurdy

Age 89

     Donna was born on May 11, 1929 in Spokane, Washington and passed away on November 13, 2018 after a very short stay at Hospice of Spokane.  She was the oldest of the large family of Hal and Helen Etter, growing up on Boone Avenue with four younger sisters and three young brothers. Donna attended St. Aloysius Grade School and Holy Names Academy.  She married Dr. Frank Jurdy on October 20, 1952 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church.  Donna focused on raising their three children in the Spokane Valley.  With great senses of humor, Donna and Frank enlivened the large gatherings of the Hal and Max Etter clans.  Donna was also creative artistically, and family and friends cherish the ceramic pieces she gifted them.

      Donna was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Frank Jurdy and her sisters Marilyn McCanna, Betsy Jackson and Halene Dill.  She is survived by her sons Dale and Dan (Faauu) Jurdy, daughter Diane (Brian) McCowen, three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her sister Sandra (Lance) Russum, brothers Jim (Billie) Etter, Frank “Ginge” (Patsy) Etter, Mike (Sue) Etter, brother-in-law Tom Jackson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

     The family is especially grateful for Diane and Brian McCowen who welcomed Donna into their home and cared for her these past two years.

     A funeral mass will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 330 W Boone Avenue, Spokane on Monday, November 19 at 11:00am. A reception will immediately follow the services in O’Malley Hall in the lower level of the church. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
