Dorothy Mae Miller

Born in Colville, Washington, April 14, 1927 to Fritz and Bertha Schoenwald, Dorothy, our beautiful mother, passed away peacefully December 23, 2018.  Graduating from Liberty Lake High School and attending Kinman Business University, Dorothy met and married Herbert Danly in January of 1955 in Seattle, while both worked in the University Presbyterian Youth Ministry.  They had four children in Bellevue. After 1972 they raised the children on a farm in Chattaroy where Dorothy loved to garden and raise animals.  When the last child graduated from high school, she sold the farm, opened up her own real estate office, where she became a successful, real estate broker, married to her second husband John Miller. They built a home in 5 mile, actively attended Mass, Adoration and established a Rosary group that met weekly in their home.  Before John passed away in 2003, they remained active traveling twice to Medjugorje and the town of Our Lady of Knock. After John's death she became an avid donor for an African Catholic ministry and served the poor.  Beautiful, independent, strong willed, kind, funny and intelligent, Dorothy was a champion for women long before it was popular.  She was an adoptive mom to many, and she raised her children to have a strong work ethic and a sense of compassion with a good sense of humor.  She is survived by her children Deb (John) Seaver, Doug (Jane) Danly, Diane (Paul) Danly Mueller, Dave (Gretchen) Danly and their families. Dorothy is now in the arms of the Lord, “Rest Peacefully, Mom.” A viewing is scheduled at 5 P.M. on Thursday, December 27th at Hennessey Funeral Home 2203 North Division, Spokane, followed by a Vigil and Rosary at 7:00 P.M.  The Holy Funeral Mass will be at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, Friday December 28 at 10:00 a.m., 1115 West Riverside Ave., Spokane, followed by a Committal service, 12 Noon, at Holy Cross Cemetery 7200 North Wall St., Spokane, WA.
