ELEANOR CATHERINE SCHOULTZ (CHIMIENTI)

Eleanor was Born Sunday August 21, 1927 and Passed Away on Sunday May 14, 2017 at the age of 89 at Ridgeview Place Assisted Living.

A Devout Catholic, she is now in peace.  She has joined her late husband Bill and son Terry as well as many relatives and friends in eternal resting.  Eleanor was born in Veradale, WA, on the family farm.  She was the third of four children born to Catherine (Pignanelli) and John Chimienti from a proud Italian American heritage that would be demonstrated throughout her entire life.

Eleanor graduated from North Central HS in 1945. She married Otis Hillman in 1947 and was widowed at age 23 with two small children.  She was swept off her feet when she met her second husband Francis William Schoultz (Bill) and they were married in 1955.  She sorely missed him after his passing in July 2000.  Together they raised five children Otis James Schoultz, Terry Otis Schoultz, Frances Marie Hermanson; John Richard Schoultz, and William Michael Schoultz.  They had eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Eleanor’s passions were her family, friends, cooking, sports, cards, and dancing.  Always impeccably dressed she took pride in having the perfect hair.  Her cooking skills were unsurpassed and she made many traditional Italian meals.  Her signature dish Braciole is near impossible to replicate.

A huge WSU football fan, she was very proud to attend both of their Rose Bowl appearances in Pasadena, CA.  An even bigger fan of the ponies, Eleanor’s horses included Fictitious Lady, Devilish Red, and Lilly’s Boy.  She was an avid participant during the heydays at Playfair Race Track.   She also spent many summers with the kids at Diamond, Loon and Deer Lake making it a special time for everyone.

Eleanor was an active volunteer in many charities over the years. She was the Chairman of the Annual St. Anne’s Children’s Home Benefit Dance, at The Davenport Hotel, and she chaired several “Reno Nights” as well as many card parties and fashion shows. She was active in politics and was the campaign manager for every campaign of WA State Rep. Geraldine McCormick. She was quite the organizer.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 4521 N Arden Rd, Otis Orchards, WA on Saturday, May 27, 2017 starting at 11:00 AM.  Friday May 26 is the Viewing at 6 PM with the Rosary at 7 PM at the same location.  Interment is planned for June 5, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery.

The entire family would like to thank the staff at Ridgeview Place, Hospice of Spokane, and Peggy Adair her hair dresser for over 30 years.

Donations can be made in Eleanor’s name to St. Anne’s Children and Family Center, 25 W 5th Avenue, Spokane, WA 99201 www.stanneskids.com or Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210 www.hospiceofspokane.org.
