Elizabeth Helen "Liz" Kennelly

Elizabeth “Liz” Helen (Johansen) Kennelly was born July 27th, 1927 and reunited with her husband Robert William Kennelly on October 31st, 2018. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by all those left who cared very deeply for her. Her two daughters Kathleen Meagley and Judith Emry, Son-In-Law Dennis Emry, three grandchildren; Erin Derrick, Ian Emry and Alicia Emry as well as her five great-grandchildren; Mia Schulwitz, Caisade Burland, Kayla Bruegeman, Bodie Burland and Max Burland.  There are several nieces and nephews that she developed a deep bond with and always remained in contact.

Liz married Bob on February 2nd, 1951. Her husband was enlisted with the United States Air Force (CMSgt Ret.) and both lived with their daughters all over the United States and Europe. He retired in Spokane and she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Lakeland Village. She was a devout parishioner of St. Augustine’s Parish for over 50 years and volunteered her time to Catholic Charities.

Liz enjoyed sewing and was a talented seamstress. She was also an excellent baker and blessed everyone with the best apple pie. She enjoyed weekly outings with her family whether it was for simple errands or out for an adventure. She was a lucky charm and always had a tale of success from the casino. Liz enjoyed her annual vacation to the coast, where she could reunite with family that does not live so close.

Liz was an exceptionally bright star and easily made friends wherever she went. Her family wants to thank all those who got to know her and for going out of their way to be so accommodating. Her absence has left a deep ache in our hearts, but so grateful to have been chosen to be her daughter, grandchild and great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Monday, November 12, 2018 from Noon to 5:00 PM with the Rosary at 6:00 PM at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N Division. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 13th at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 428 W 19th Ave., Spokane, WA 99203.  The interment will follow at noon at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 6910 S Ben Burr Rd.  Please share memories and condolences at this site.
