Evelyn Riedinger

Born in Crown Butte, North Dakota, February 8, 1927 to Frank Riedinger and Christina Braun, Evelyn Clare Riedinger passed away peacefully, October 31, 2019 at Royal Park Assisted Living Center in Spokane, Washington.  Evelyn had a happy and joyful life coming from a large family of nineteen brothers and sisters and out of the nineteen siblings she was the youngest of four girls.  Evelyn loved life as much as she loved her Catholic faith.  In her early years she had the desire to become a nun and as a result, entered into a convent for one and a half years.  When Evelyn realized becoming a sister was not be her calling, Evelyn worked as the head cook for all the priests in the New York Catholic Diocese, cooking their daily meals for several years.  When Evelyn left New York she became a teacher in a one roomed school house for children of the Lakota Sioux Native American tribe, and from there her life's journey took her to Seattle to obtain nurses training as an LPN. Evelyn is survived by one sister Maggie Riedinger of Spokane, WA and is preceded in death by her parents and other siblings.Evelyn is survived by Donna Sickler, her niece from Bismark North Dakota and Donna Bennett, her niece from Benecia, California as well as many other nieces and nephews.    Services will begin with a Visitation at the Cathedral of Our Lady Lourdes, Friday November 8th, 11;00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 12 Noon and a reception in the lower level of the Cathedral.  The Committal at Holy Cross Cemetery's  outdoor Lawn Garden Crypts, St. John section, will commence at 2:30 p.m.  To share memories of Evelyn and leave condolences for the family, please visit Evelyn’s Tribute Wall.
