Gary Fowler Komm

       Gary Fowler Komm, 79, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021 in Spokane, WA after battling Parkinson’s Disease. Gary was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada on March 10, 1942 to William and Doris Komm. Gary married Arlene Turley in 1965 in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple and they have five children, 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

       Gary served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central Atlantic States Mission from 1962-64. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting, and a master’s degree in public administration. His area of expertise was in commercial mortgage banking where he worked in L.A., Seattle, Salt Lake City and Spokane. In the years before he retired in 2008 he formed and owned two companies specializing in commercial real estate lending and investing.

       Gary served in various church callings and enjoyed boating, water skiing, scuba diving, golfing and cars. His most favorite hobby was horseback riding and team roping which contributed to the loss of his right thumb in 2007.

       Gary is survived by his wife, Arlene, and their son Brian Komm with his wife, Alison and their five children; their daughter Kristine Stevenson (deceased) with her husband, Greg and their daughter; their daughter Leslie Egan and her husband, Mike and their four children; their daughter Kimberly Rippy with her husband, Dustin and their five children; and their son, Jason Komm; his brother, Ronald Komm and his sister, Jane Gibb. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, William and Doris Komm; his sister, Doreen Komm; and his daughter, Kristine Stevenson.

       Funeral services for Gary will be held at 10:00am, Monday, November 22, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Spokane North Stake Center/Chapel located at 401 W. Regina, Spokane, WA 99218. He will be interred at the Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery in Spokane, WA.
