Jerry passed away peacefully December 25, 2017, Christmas Day, due to stroke complications. He was born November 3, 1934 in Winona, Missouri to Jess and Effie Kerr and had five sisters: Juanita Jones, Marie Stewart, Roselea Wilford, Velma Runabear and Eula Bousman. Jerry graduated from Warrenton High School in Warrenton, Oregon. The Air Force brought him to Fairchild AFB serving four years. After living in Rapid City, South Dakota and Mt. Home, Idaho, Jerry and his wife returned to Spokane to live, work and raise a family. He retired from POE Asphalt Paving, Inc. as a truck driver through the Local #690 Teamster Union. He then served at various positions in the Retired Teamsters group. He was also a member of the Eagles Travel Club. Jerry loved life and could carry on a conversation with anyone he met. He had a story and joke for everything. In the seventies, he belonged to the Eldorado Camper Club, snowmobiled and rode motorcycles. Jerry bowled for many years on different bowling leagues, meeting many friends. Jerry and his wife always owned an RV and loved traveling. Being a truck driver, Jerry’s children say it wasn’t uncommon to wake up in the camper and be headed down the highway at three or four o’clock in the morning. He enjoyed the outdoors including, camping, fishing (both fresh and salt water), clam-digging, four wheeling, hunting and golfing. Jerry is survived by his wife, Shirley Kerr of 60 years, sister, Eula Bousman, numerous brother and sister-in-law’s and his children: Jeffrey Kerr (Julie), Julie Funke (Eric), Shelley Kerr (Greg Lesher); his 11 grandchildren: Jess Kerr, Steven Kerr (Courtney), Katie Kerr, Kyle Funke (Mackenzie Miller), Ryan Funke (Stephanie), Dustin Kerr, Brittni Anderson (Marty) and four great grandchildren: Eric, Hailey, Zeya and Akiva.

There will be a visitation for Jerry on Friday January 5th, 2017 from 2-5 pm at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division. Jerry’s memorial service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at  Holy Cross Cemetery , 7200 N. Wall, Spokane, WA.
