Helen McCune born November 8, 1920, in Menomonie Wisconsin to Hans Meyer Hansen and Mathilda Caroline Lahr. Helen was the youngest of four children. Helen served in the Navy as a boot camp instructor from 1944 to 1946. After the war, she returned to Menomonie and taught high school PE in Marshfield WI. Helen enjoyed traveling. While traveling in Hawaii, she met her husband James Lester McCune through a mutual friend. They were married July 21, 1961. James was stationed in the Army in Hawaii and that is where their first child Daniel was born. But they did not feel Hawaii was a place they wanted to raise their family so they moved to Spokane Washington. They bought their home where Helen lived out her life in 1962. They had three more children, David, Diane, and Debra (Debbie). Helen had 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who loved her dearly. Helen was strong in her faith and loved God. She was a long-time member of St Anthony’s Church and she belonged to the St Anne’s guild and prayer network. Helen loved to play cards, especially bridge, and get together with all her friends and family. Helen lived a beautiful life and was blessed with many that loved her. She will be greatly missed and remembered forever.
