Cmdr. Herbert T Colburn Died Nov. 8th 2021 at the age of 85. He passed peacefully at Hospice of Spokane with his loving wife Mary Lou and family by his side. Herb was born in Rochester MN., born to Herbert and Kathryn Colburn. His family later moved to Alameda CA. After high school he joined the Navy and soon after met the love of his life Mary Lou Monrean at the USO in Seattle WA. They were married in 1956 for 65 fun adventurous years. Herb has four children Anna Marie, Micheal, Richard and Tracey. Soon after the kids were born, he applied and was accepted to Officer Candidate School in Newport RI. After graduating, he was commissioned an Ensign in the USN. He served his country for 28 years to include the Korean and Vietnam Campaigns. He started his Naval career as an Enlisted Sailor and rose to the rank of Commander retired in 1981 and was honored to be a “Mustang”. After retirement, he bought and successfully ran Bolton’s Saw Shop in Bremerton WA. He retired and sold Bolton’s in 1998 and moved with Mary Lou to Spokane WA in 1999. He was active in his Church, was an avid golfer and frequently played with the Jackson Brown golf group. He was a Patriot, devoted husband, father and Grandpa to twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
