James “Jim” Millgard, 66, was born to Hugh “Bus” and Jo Millgard on March 6, 1951 and was a lifelong resident of Spokane. He graduated from Gonzaga Prep in 1969 and was a proud alum of EWU where he received his BA and later his master’s degree in Urban Planning, which he applied to his work as a Spokane County Planner for over two decades. Jim was a regular in the Spokane music scene for 50+ years as a drummer in various bands (Kentucky Bleu Grass, The Dream Factory, Dee and the Deelites, and Misspent Youth to name a few). Jim was an avid golfer, sports fan, music lover and ferocious reader. Jim was an incredibly loving and loyal husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. Jim passed away unexpectedly in his sleep after a lovely evening celebrating Christmas with his family including his two beloved grandsons. Jim is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nancy, son Jake Millgard, daughter-in-law Ruthie, grandsons August and Benjamin (San Diego) and his sisters Kay Anderson (Spokane) and Jan Millgard (Federal Way), along with countless dear friends. Jim will be profoundly missed by all that knew him. A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 3PM at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N Division.  A reception will follow at Hennessey’s.
