Joan E Ressa

Ressa, Joan Ellen, age 69, passed away peacefully the morning of July 24, 2018 in the presence of her family.  Joan was born November 27, 1948 and lived her entire life in Spokane.  Joan worked as a secretary for the Central Valley School District for 28 years where she earned the nickname “St. Joan”.  She will be remembered for her smile, for her genuineness and compassion, but most of all for her kindness.  We all knew how amazing Joan was in life.  We got to see how truly amazing she was in the final fight of her life.  Joan Ressa was many things to many people.  To her family she will always be remembered as “Nonna”.  To everyone else that was lucky enough to know her and spend time with her she will be remembered as “friend”. 

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Don Ressa; her children, Tony Ressa and Amy “Joan Clone” (Steve) Wohl; grandchildren Gracie and Nolan Wohl and Livia and Mia Ressa; her mother Ruth “Gigi” Harris; sister Jan (Scott) Fink; brother Jim (Brenda) Hoagland and many other loving family members. 

The family would like to thank the health professionals who helped Joan along the way.  A special thanks to Dr. Guthrie, Dr. Holbrook, Dr. Brower, Dr. Seibold, Dr. Thumma, Stephanie Hart and especially Dr. Janet Chestnut and Dr. Peter Martin for their loving care and compassion over the past four-and-a-half years.  Also all the nurses; Lisa, Merrijoe, Michael, Rachael, Tina and the many health professionals we met along the way.  There is a special place in heaven for all of you. 

In lieu of flowers Joan would be honored if you would make a donation to Hospice of Spokane.  A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Valley Real Life Church  1831 S Barker Rd  Greenacres, WA 99016.
