It is with great sadness to announce the passing of John C. McLaughlin. Born in Hingham, Massachusetts, John died (age 80) March 9th of MDS with his wife Christine and his dog by his side.
John McLaughlin was belovedly known as “The Chief” was the owner and CEO of Group Photographers Association. John started his business almost 50 years ago in his garage in southern California. And by sheer determination and guts, grew this business to become the leader in the nation for youth sports photo processing.
John had a presence about him that was larger than life. Anyone who knew John knew he was a huge force to be reckoned with.
John graduated from Hingham High School and was a talented athlete, he was a goalie in hockey and a lineman in football. All through his life he was an avid sports lover and a die hard Mariner fan. His fondest memories were having his grandchildren and family visit him at Priest Lake. He also loved playing golf and spending time in Hawaii.
Not only was John a successful business man, but he was also incredibly generous with a big heart. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife Christine (Deviny), his daughter Dannielle (Dave) Snelling and his two grandchildren Zach and Logan.
John is preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer Mclaughlin, his son Jeffery McLaughlin, his mother Barbra McLaughlin, his father John McLaughlin.
Due to the pandemic, his memorial service will be announced later on this year. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Jennifer McLaughlin Memorial Fund with the Spokane Community Colleges.
