Tribute

          J. Karen Krauth, age 79, left this earth for her eternal home on December 25, 2019.
(Judith) Karen Krauth was born September 16, 1940 at home in Hebron, North Dakota to Kurt H. and Idah (Johnson) Krauth.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Church in Hebron and attended the Hebron Public School graduating from Hebron High School with the class of 1958.  She also attended Jamestown College.
In late 1960 Karen moved to Pleasant Hill, CA and later to Concord, CA.  In 1979, being a North Dakotan at heart, she returned to Hebron.  In Hebron she was a member of St. John Church and was active with the Women’s Guild and was on the church council.   As a member of the Hebron Public Library Board Karen was active in the planning of and raising funds for the new Hebron library.  This was a most rewarding project.  In 1993 Karen and her mother moved to Bismarck where she became a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church and was active as a member of the Tuesday Morning Bible Study group, as a librarian and a member of the YAHs group.  She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, a member of the Sons of Norway Lodge and a member of Christian Women’s Club.  Karen’s hobbies were reading, needlepoint, counted cross stitch, playing Bridge, board games, word games, oil painting, movies and music.  Visiting with friends or family was a requirement for every day.
Karen always felt blessed by her family and friends and those who walked with her on this path called life.  The path was not always an easy path and she was grateful for those who helped to ease the way and by so doing made it a happy path.
Karen is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Lois Krauth of Concord, CA and her sister-in-law, Charlotte Krauth, Minnetonka, MN.  She is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews, who called her “Neen”.  They are:  Connie Krauth, Maxine Lecy, Carla Pereira, Kurt Krieg, Cathy Moore, Mark Krauth, Kent Krauth, Charles Krauth, Kay Grote and Kurt C. Krauth.             There are also many grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.   She had moved from Bismarck to Spokane WA a year ago, to live with her niece and her
Husband, Kay and Tom Grote.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her brothers Charles and Kermit and her sister and brother-in-law Carol and Harry Krieg.
