Tribute

Katherine Edmunds Neupert

April 23, 1921 - December 3, 2018

Kay grew up in Portland, Oregon and graduated from Grant High School. She went on to Mills College in Oakland, CA, and married her high school sweetheart, the late Jack G Neupert. They moved to Spokane in 1948 and over the years, she left her mark on this community. Kay was a past President of the Junior League, a Board member of the MAC, one of the six founders of the Service League at Sacred Heart Hospital and a docent during EXPO ’74. She was a gracious host and loved playing bridge and Mah Jongg with her many friends in Spokane, Hayden Lake, and the San Diego area.

Kay will be remembered for her daily dose of humor, her amazing memory, her awareness of the world around her and her commitment to keeping family and friends connected. She supported opportunities for education and organizations that helped others in times of need.

Kay’s family connection to Spokane is well documented. Her Grandfather, Jacob “Dutch Jake” Goetz, was well known in the North Idaho silver mining and early Spokane communities. A park in the Nettleton Addition of Spokane is named in his honor.

She is survived by her family, Susan Hoff of Seattle, Tom and Carol Neupert of Spokane, Jim Neupert of Twisp, 6 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. Her life will be celebrated at a future date by her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Spokane at 121 S Arthur, 99202 or Rockwood Residents’ Foundation at 2903 E 25th Ave., 99223

AFTERGLOW

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun---

Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
