Hearts Love 16

Kristina Kay Hines

October 28, 2021 ~ October 28, 2021

Tribute

October 23, 2021, Kristina’s complications from lifelong chronic illnesses became more than her mind and body could sustain. She was released from this earth and now rests in peace and love.

Kristina was born in Salem, Missouri to Tim and Gail Hines who were young adventurous teenagers that loved her with all their hearts. Her sister Katrina joined her five years later. Her mother’s second marriage brought her to Spokane, WA where she joined new siblings Jeffrey, Danica and Joshua.

She was intelligent with a big heart and worked hard in school, graduating from High School in Tucson, AZ in 1991, a year early at the top of her class. She attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA on scholarships, graduating in 2000 with a degree in Human Resources. Her health, already causing her issues in her early twenties, was aggravated when a four wheeler accident broke her back. This made it difficult to work, so Kristina decided to return to school. As a problem solver and excellent researcher,  Kristina felt she could learn how to heal herself at the naturopathic university Bastyr in Seattle, so she packed and went to start her new degree in 2003. Kristina graduated at the top of her class with a Masters in Naturopathic Nutrition in 2008. She returned to Spokane with high hopes to help many people with their health issues. She became a Nutritionist at Cancer Care and made a difference in many lives helping to ease suffering and recover from devastating diagnosis. Although she tried every avenue possible, she could not improve her own health. After she was exposed to black mold, she became disabled from work and was confined to home with occasional bursts of energy to enjoy family and friends. She spent her last five years in Puerto Vallarta and that gave her a less toxic environment, access to cost effective medical options and a wonderful group of supportive, fun friends on the sea. Kristina was always researching and reaching out, giving her heart to help others even on her darkest days. She was full of love and saddened she did not have the health or energy to have a family of her own to surround in love.

Kristina is survived by her Maternal Grandmother Beatrice, Paternal Grandmother Carlene, Father Tim Hines; Mother Gail Whitney and spouse Gordon; Uncle Johnny Hines and spouse Kathy, Cousins Shantell, Amber, Daniel; Aunt Shelly Basketfield and spouse Ann, Aunt Janet Gott, Cousins Lindsey and Nathan, Sister Katrina Hawker and spouse Eric, nieces Kaitlyn, Samantha, Olivia, Evelyn; Brother Jeff Vance and fiancé Tasha, Nieces Gwen and Daisy, Great Niece Luna; Sister Danica Harnett, Nieces Mya and Ava; and Brother Joshua Vance.  She had many friends around the world who have a hole in their hearts at her loss and share with her family the pain of her passing. She has left this earth with many people benefiting from her fire for research to improve health and her generous heart. She will be missed, but we have comfort that she has passed to her beautiful mountain top and is at peace.

Celebration of Life and disbursement of ashes will be immediate family only due to Covid. Please donate or spend an afternoon volunteering at your local Animal Shelter to honor Kristina. Helping animals find their forever homes brought her true joy.
