Leda A. Agostinelli

Leda passed away peacefully on July 5, 2018 surrounded by her family.  Leda Mandoli was born on Jan. 8, 1924 in Segromigno in Piano, a little village in Lucca province, Italy.  She was the second of four children of Vittorio and Giuseppina Mandoli.  She immigrated to Canada with her family at age 5.  They settled in Trail B.C., Canada where she met and married “Doc” in 1947, shortly after he returned from Europe where he served in the Canadian Army during WWII.  They moved to Spokane in 1956 with their two sons, where they lived the rest of their lives.  They were in love for the next 58 years until Doc’s passing in 2005.  During the years, Leda was very active in support of both St. Charles and Assumption Parish, spending many days ironing altar boy and priest vestments, and supporting many classroom functions at the parochial schools.  She enjoyed gardening, especially her rock garden and rose garden and spent time with Doc and friends golfing at the local golf courses as well as taking many golf trips to Canada.  She spent her later years enjoying family and holiday gatherings with her growing number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Her sweet but strong Italian spirit was felt by all who knew her and especially her family who she cared for deeply.  Leda is survived by her two sons Michael (Jeanne) and Robert (Linda), 4 grandchildren Jennifer (Jon), Lisa (Donaven), Robin (Greg), and Nicolas (Michelle), 7 great grandchildren, brother (Luigi), and many nieces and nephews.  Leda’s sister (Anna) and brother (Vincent) preceded her passing.   Memorial contributions in her honor may be sent to Hospice of Spokane (P.O. Box 2215).  A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Assumption Parrish (3624 W. Indian Trail Road) with a reception to follow.  A private graveside service for immediate family will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
