Lester “Let” Carl Young, age 93, died in his sleep early morning of June 26th. He was born to Harry A. Young and Estella F. Whitlatch in Dover, Idaho. He served in the Navy and was Honorably Discharged in May of 1943 with the following medals: Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign, Philippine Liberation, American Area and a World War II Victory Medal. Following the service he worked at Northwest Airlines as a baggage handler where he retired.
Lester was an avid golfer. He played all the courses in and around the area, but his favorite was Indian Canyon. Now I must let you know that he walked this course all 18 holes and did so up until his mid-80’s. “I will quit golfing when I no longer can walk the Canyon.”
Lester was never married and had no children. He survived his parents and all of his siblings. He did be friend several staff members and residents at Windriver Place Assisted Living. The staff here along with Hospice of Spokane was phenomenal with caring for him. A very special thank you to the Wednesday doughnut crew in early the morning.
