March 29, 1933 ~ February 21, 2020 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Tribute

Linda Louise Farmin (Adams) of Spokane, WA, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2020 at Rockwood Hawthorne.

Linda was born in Melrose Park, PA, in 1933 and following graduation from Germantown Friends School, attended Sweetbriar College and the University of Pennsylvania.  Linda was an excellent student and accomplished athlete especially in golf and equestrian sports.

After meeting and marrying her first husband, Thure M. Ahlquist II, in 1956, they moved to the Walla Walla, WA area and had two children, Thure M. Ahlquist III and Anita L. Indelicato (Ahlquist).

In 1966, after her first husband’s death, Linda moved to Spokane and married Wray D. Farmin, Jr. and had a son, Dee Adams Farmin.

Linda loved playing golf and she made many lifelong friends while enjoying the game.  She was a member of the Spokane Country Club and the Wigwam Country Club in Litchfield Park, AZ, so she could play golf year-round.  She was a competitive player with a wicked short game and she won many tournaments including Club Championships, SAWGA City Championships, and the State Senior Women’s Championships in both Washington and Arizona.  It’s no wonder she had 12 holes-in-one.

In addition to her play and support of women’s golf, Linda was very active in her support of youth activities such as Cub Scouts and Camp Fire Girls.  She was integral in organizing junior golf tournaments and weekly play at the Spokane Country Club. When forced to do indoor activities, she also used her sharp mind for bridge, mahjong and puzzles.  She always did the crosswords in ink.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marie Louise Sharpless (Neusell) and George Mott Adams, and her step-father Lincoln F. Sharpless.

Linda is survived by her husband of 53 years, Wray D. Farmin, Jr., her three children: Thure M. Ahlquist III, Anita L. Indelicato (Jay) and Dee Adams Farmin, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Linda was a loving and devoted mother.  Her support encouraged independence and adventure in her children.  She was elegant, accomplished and humble.  She will be greatly missed.
