Luverna Irena Benson/Wolf, 93 years old, left her earthly home to join her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at her home in Spokane, Washington. She had lived there with her daughter, Candice since 2004. She died peacefully with her loved ones by her side.
Luverna was a devout member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses of the Kingdom Hall at Deer Park, WA.
Luverna, also known as Mama Lu or Grandma Lu was born April 6, 1924 in Havre, Montana. She lived in Lodi, CA from 1954 until 2004 where she raised her 7 children. She worked at DelMonte cannery in Stockton, CA from 1970 until 1982 as a floor supervisor. Luverna loved to make arts and crafts where she was especially talented and creative. She also loved to cook and loved to play her harmonica.
Luverna was preceded in death by her husband Walter H. Benson of Lodi; her mother Teresa Wolf/Oste; her father Emmanuel Wolf; a sister Agnes Sturdhal; a sister Vera Olson; a brother Calvin Wolf and her beloved son Jimmy L. Doty.
She is survived by a brother Raymond Wolf, Salem, OR; a sister Margorie Stenner, Havre, MT; a sister Darlene Twilchell, Glendive, MT. She has six surviving children: Leslie H. Doty, Donald D. Doty, Rocklin, CA; Pamela K. McDade, Salem, OR; Candis F. Cook, Spokane, WA; Janet Williams, Spokane, WA; Douglas H. Benson, Orville, CA. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly. Lu raised 7 children with all the love a mother could give and never asked for anything in return. She lived a full and long life and she touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will be sorely missed. She was our best friend and mama. Love you Mom.
