Margaret C Schneuker

Margaret (Gretchen) Schneuker was born on October 24, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Ella Nowosad.  She graduated from Luther High School in Chicago.  Shortly after graduation she moved with her parents to California.  During a brief early marriage she gave birth to her daughter Valerie.  In 1952 she married Donald Schneuker, a Lutheran pastor, who adopted Valerie.  Together they had two more children, David and Laurel.  For more than 50 years, Gretchen filled the role of pastor’s wife, actively engaged in the congregations he served.  A very talented singer, she directed children’s choirs as well as adult choirs.  She also played the organ for church services when needed.  At one point she served as vocal coach for talented high school singers.  Outside the home, Gretchen worked as a school secretary in Cut Bank, Montana and American Falls, Idaho.  Together in 1990, the Schneukers retired in Spokane, Washington, where they continued to be engaged in church activities.  Gretchen is survived by her husband Donald; her children Valerie Spartz, David (and Lynn) Schneuker, and Laurel Little; by grandchildren Tim (and Jamie) Freed, Joshua (and Sara) Spartz, Luke Little, Nick Schneuker, Jennifer (and Eric) Randall; and by great grandchildren Olivia and Cooper Spartz, Lyla and Emilyn Randall, and Madison and Tanner Little.  She was preceded in death by grandson Matthew Little.
