Margaret Mary Stalker (Age 57)
April 14, 1962 to May 20, 2019
With family and friends at her side, Margaret left this world on May 20, 2019; her battle with cancer is over and she is at peace. Margaret was born in Limestone, Maine to James and Irene Hartman (Elli). She came to Spokane at the age of two where she lived for much of her life. Putting school on hold, Margaret raised three sons as a single mother. Eventually she returned to school and ultimately earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work. With her new credentials she was blessed with the opportunity to work with the United States Air Force helping military families with special needs and transitioning between duty stations. Although never serving in the military herself, she carried on a long family tradition of military service. Margaret always loved traveling; in her last 10 years, she was fortunate to have lived and worked in Nashville, Tennessee, Vacaville, CA, and Tampa FL and make many trips to Miami, FL and San Diego, CA, her favorite place in the world.
Margaret is survived by her three sons, Gunnery Sergeant Bradley Stalker (Leah) (Camp Pendleton, CA), Chief Warrant Officer 2 Michael D. Stalker (Julia) (Fort Carson, CO), and Anthony Stalker (Spokane, WA); grand-daughter Quinn, brother Joseph Hartman (Portland, OR); and sister Jane Hartman (Hendersonville, TN).
She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Margaret did not desire a large formal service and wished for her remains to be spread in the ocean off the coast of San Diego. A private celebration of her life will be held at an undisclosed location in Spokane, WA on Thursday May 30 at 2:30 pm. Those desiring to attend should request additional information by contacting: inmemoryofmargaret2019@gmail.com. Another gathering will be held in San Diego to spread her ashes for those wishing to attend at a later date.
