Tribute

Margaret (Margie, Maggie, Woods, Allen) Stehr passed away peacefully surrounded by love and laughter on June 24, 2018. Margaret was the youngest of three children born to Howard and Frances Woods on June 22, 1954 in Kalispell, MT. When she was a toddler, the family moved to Ione, WA where they built their home on the Pend Oreille River. Margaret lived in Ione until she graduated from Selkirk High School in 1972. She was married twice. First to Boyde “Chip” Allen, then to Ron Stehr, and she had three children: Jacob, Sarah, and Johnny. She had many careers in her lifetime such as bookkeeper, branding clerk, and working in the kitchen at Lewis and Clark High school, but it was her role as mother and friend that she will be most fondly remembered for. Family and friends where the light and joy in her life. She had an incredible sense of empathy and was a great listener. She was always available, day or night, to lend an ear, give a hug, or offer a place to stay. She was always happy, remained positive, and never gave up hope.  She had a superior sense of humor and loved a good joke. The preferred jokes were typically off-colored and usually at the most inappropriate times. She is survived by her three children: Jacob (Beth) Allen, Sarah (Brad) Saari, and Johnny DeGraaf, and 8 grandchildren whom she loved and adored: Rachael, Jessica, Gabriel, Emma, Sophia, Jason, Abigail, and Bailey.  She is preceded in death by both of her parents, Howard and Frances Woods and her husband, Ron Stehr. Her love, friendship, and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.  A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 22nd at 11:00 AM at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N Division with a reception following.  Please share memories and condolences at this site.
