Marjorie Mae Garrison, 99, died April 27, 2022, in Spokane. She was born in Canadian, Texas, to Fred and Bernice Farnsworth on July 18, 1922. She was one of nine children and is survived by her 101-year-old sister, Lola Kerr of Midland, Texas. A graduate of Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas, she taught school before marrying Lloyd Garrison, a young Baptist preacher, in 1944. She began a long life of service by his side. They served churches in West Texas until they moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1956 to serve in The Dalles, Oregon. They moved to Yakima in 1960, Spokane in 1967 and various communities in North Idaho before they retired to Otis Orchards in 1993. She has many friends in those churches who were touched by her compassionate service. In her century of service, she has cooked for a lot of potlucks, taught of bunch of Sunday Schools kids, planned showers, receptions and weddings, and gave a lot of hugs. She had four children, Annie (Garry) Matlow, Bekki (Robert) Sherwood, Daniel Garrison, all of Spokane, and the late Tom (Kaye) Garrison of Wichita Falls, Texas. Also surviving are grandchildren Jason Alexander, Dyersberg, Tennessee; David Alexander, Beaverton, Oregon; Kevin Garrison, Conway, Arkansas; Amy Stennes, Arvada, Colorado; Rachel, Nathan and Mark Sherwood, all of Spokane; Danielle Young, Colfax; and Melissa Burnson, Spokane; and 21 great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, May 5, at 6:30 p.m. at North Addison Baptist Church in Spokane.
