Maureen took me in when I was a freshman in high school until I graduated. She was a great foster mom and I truly loved her and thank her for raising me those four years. Rest In Peace Maureen GOD will keep you safe.

My deepest heartfelt condolences go out to your children and family. There is so much I'd love to share but there is not enough room. I met Maureen when I was younger. I worked with her at her laundromat for about 3 years. We became good friends and she became my mentor. She was a great person as well as a wonderful humanitarian. She loved under privileged children and would do anything for them. She did a lot for me. I had the opportunity to live with her. We took many trips together and I loved every moment. She was quirky and funny at times. Definitely ONE of a kind. I wish I would have had the opportunity to have spent more time with her. I will always have wonderful memories of the time we spent together. My most memorable time was when we took a trip to San Francisco. We met up with her best friend and took us, of all places, to a gay parade. Then off to the Fisherman's Warf where we had lobster thermador. Maureen and I never had so much fun. She was the life of the party and you either liked her or you didn't. She wasn't just my mentor, she was like an older sister. She will always be forever in my heart and I will miss her dearly. Love Latonna

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Maureen was a very caring individual. Our mother was a single parent with six children when she met Maureen. Maureen became a close friend of the family. After our mother passed away in 1979, she immediately took me and my sister in without hesitation or thought and we became the very first foster children for her. We had a "blast" traveling with her and experiencing new things in life. She encouraged success and wanted nothing but the best for us. She had a funny side to her such as trying to see how many of us she could "cram" into her "Orange" VW bug. This happened many times until she upgraded to the VW Van....what a treat LoL.... This is just one of the many memories that we hold in our heart. Maureen, there are no words to describe the difference you made in our lives except 'Thank You' again and again many times over. We'll see you again some day.

My deepest condolences to Maureen's children, grandchildren, family and friends. I have known Maureen since about 1970. She helped our low income family of six children. She was an advocate for children way back then. She gave us odd jobs at the laundromat she ran and did yard work and house work for her. In return she would buy us school clothes and take us out to restaurants, movies, bought us world fair season passes, she would even take us on trip's. All these things we wouldn't have had or experienced if not for her.
She taught me life lessons and work ethics that has carried me through live and helped make me the successful person I am now. I could never repay her for all she had done for our family
I am thankful I had the chance to tell her thank you many times, but still wish for one more chance. Maureen was diffently one of a kind and a wonderful person and soul. I know her greatest joy by far in life where her children and grandchildren. I am happy she had that love and joy. She deserves much. I am sure she has earned the most glorious, beautiful wings of all. God speed to you Maureen and thank god you where in my life
Love and hugs to your children and grandchildren. Love your friend always Jannette
