Michael (Mike), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2020 of heart failure. Mike was born in Spokane, Washington to Joseph and Julia McCullough. He attended St. Aloysius Catholic school and St. Aloysius Catholic Church where he was an alter server. Mike graduated from Gonzaga Preparatory School in 1974. He relocated to Las Vegas after receiving a music scholarship to University of Nevada, Las Vegas. After college, Mike returned to Spokane to pursue his career in pipefitting and HVAC. Over the last 10 years, Mike was a dedicated employee at Black Management working as an experienced maintenance engineer.
Mike had many interests that included: music, travel and all things sports. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Zags, Seahawks, Sonics and Mariners. He was excited to attend a hockey game with new team, Seattle Kraken. Music was Mike's first love. The Rolling Stones, Elton John and Tina Turner were amongst his favorites. Mike enjoyed attending concerts and having dance parties with his children and grandchildren. Mike loved family and had a heart of gold.
Mike is preceded in death by his loving parents, brother, Ronnie McCullough; granddaughter, Taylor Ester; niece and goddaughter, Brandy Smet. He is lovingly remembered by his best friend and love of his life of 35 years, Laurie McCullough; 6 children, Malini Wilkerson (Toure); Heather Lealan (Andrew); Wesly McCullough (Brittany); Heidi Banik (Joey); Joshua McCullough (Kery); Michelle Binion (George); 2 sisters, Mary Ellen Farr; Concetta Hudson; 1 brother, Joseph McCullough; 14 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Viewing will be at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N Division St, Spokane, WA 99207 on Thursday, January 14th from 3pm-7pm.
