Tribute

Nadine Judy Miller, (Allen) beloved wife of the late G. Thomas Miller, passed away with her family by her side, on November 12, 2023. Nadine was born on 9/4/1942 in Walnut Creek, California, to Roma (Assendrup) and Clyde Allen. Nadine was raised in Filer, Idaho on a small potato farm. She followed her two older sisters into nursing and graduated from Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing. She began her nursing career in Portland, Oregon where she met Tom, the love of her life and husband for 53 years, Nadine then shifted her focus from her career to her family. She and Tom moved to Spokane, WA in 1971 where they lived and raised their three children Patrick, Traci, and Jeff.
Nadine, the heartbeat of the family, was a beacon of quiet strength. Her beautiful smile was her trademark. Resilient, intelligent and giving she navigated life with grace. Nadine was hardworking, modest and above all kind. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She created a warm and loving home and was a wonderful cook. Her generosity ever present, and her loyalty was unwavering. Nadine was more than a mother, she was a pillar of support and love.
Her devout Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her daily life.
Nadine found joy in various recreational pursuits. She loved tennis, golf and boating. A proud sports fan (especially football) Nadine’s heart belonged to Gonzaga Prep High School, Oregon State University and Gonzaga basketball.
For over 50 years, Nadine and Tom shared the magic of Priest Lake, creating a haven of memories at the lake. They could be found during the winter months in Kona, Hawaii socializing with friends and playing golf. Nadine always loved sunsets, especially in Hawaii.
Nadine’s greatest achievement in life was undoubtedly the love and care she poured into raising her three children, setting the foundation for a close knit family. She continued this devotion as a grandmother and played a pivotal role to her six grandchildren. They affectionately called her Mimi, she showered them with her warmth and her wisdom. She loved baking Christmas cookies with them.
Nadine faced the difficult diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease yet she navigated it with grace, similar to how she had lived her life. She continued to light up the room with her smile, her sense of humor and the twinkle in her eyes. She transcended the limitations of the disease. Through the slow decline, the essence of Nadine continued to shine through, her love ever present. Nadine will be deeply missed. The impact of her love will forever be present to those that were fortunate to have known her.
