Oras “Joe” Vallejo

The heavens have a new star tonight- and it’s our treasured father, Joe.  He was born in Walsenburg, CO on August 1, 1927 and grew up in Butte MT. He left his loving mother and grandfather at the young age of 17 and traveled the world, serving in 4 branches of the U.S Military. While stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base, he met and married our mother, and happily assumed the role of father and grandfather. Joe was the most thoughtful, caring considerate and loving person to his family and friends. After retiring from the Air Force, he and Mother spent 40+ enjoyable years in their home near Cannon Hill Park in Spokane. After celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, Mothers health began to decline and Joe cared tirelessly for her until her passing in 2011. He then moved to Park Place Retirement Community where he made many new friends. In 2017 Joe went on the Honor Flight accompanied by granddaughter Kimberly and her husband Arthur. Joe had a wonderful sense of humor, was keenly interested in politics and many sports.  “GO ZAGS!” This special person will be forever missed by his family and friends. Joe is preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise and is survived by daughters Donna Clellen and Billie Mitchell, grandchildren Kimberly Shaw (Arthur), Kerry Clellen (Teresa Sutton) Shelby Smith and Georgie Lindsley. There will be an Entombment Thursday, March 15th at 1 pm at Pines Cemetery, 1402 S Pines, Spokane Valley and a memorial service following at Brookdale Park Place, 601 S Park Rd Spokane Valley, at 2 pm.
