Raymond (Ray) Claude Lobdell passed away June 30, 2021, Ray was born November 19, 1923, and spent his early childhood traveling with his mother and sister, Marion, settling in Spokane when his mother, Emma Vigil Lobdell married Harry Lobdell. He attended Hamilton Elementary School and Rogers High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. After serving in World War II and the Korean War, he returned to Spokane with his wife Cathy (bubbles), and his two children, Cheryl and Steven, establishing residence in a small north side home where they lived until 1957 when the family moved, joined by the youngest son Patrick, to their permanent residence were Ray resided for 64 years until his death. He was a life-long member of St. Xavier’s Church. His favorite hobbies included bowling for the knights of Columbus and watching the Mariners, Seahawks, and Gonzaga Bulldogs. A talented watch and clock repairman, one of his fondest memories was shaking John F. Kennedys hand when he walked into his shop to have his watch repaired while campaigning in Spokane. Nothing pleased Ray more than living long enough to spend time with his great-grandchildren, Hailey Lawton, Damon, Lawton and Jack Landers. He was preceded in death by his wife Cathy and his son Patrick, parents, younger brother Harry (Dick), his sister Marion. He will be greatly Missed by his surviving family, sister Dorothy, daughter Cheryl (Tom), son Steven (Rogena), granddaughters Molly (Derek), Jody (Aaron), Brianna (Paul), Chalise, goddaughters Lisa and Noelle, great grandchildren, Hailey, Damon, and Jack, and beloved dog Hershey. The family wishes to extend the heartfelt gratitude to Ray’s caregivers, Leona, Cathy, Moses, and Bill. Rosary Services will be held at Hennessey’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 7th at 7:00PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier’s church on Thursday July 8th at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SCRAPS.
