Richard Eugene Schmit also known as “Dick” passed away unexpectedly at Deaconess Hospital, on July 26, 2021. He was born to Eugene and Pauline Schmit in Biddeford ME on January 25, 1947. Dick graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School, Class of 1965. He then joined the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1972 and worked in Missile Control Guidance. After his time in the military, he settled down in Klamath Falls, OR where he was employed at Weyerhaeuser Timber Co. and became a Plant Electrician. He enjoyed his work and after 25 years retired.
Dick met his current wife, Linda in Klamath Falls, OR and they were married on October 31, 1982, in Reno NV. There they built a new life together. They both loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time together Fly fishing throughout Oregon and enjoyed playing Golf with family and friends. He was famous for pulling a joke or two to get a rise and it was always done all in fun. He was a very gentle man for his tall and large stature and always put his wife and children first.
He is survived by his wife Linda Schmit, his daughters; Megan Schmit of Spokane WA., Kim Webb of Spokane WA., Pamela Rather of San Antonio TX., and a son; Christopher Schmit of Spokane WA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 2;00 pm Monday, August 2, 2021 at Hennessey Funeral Home & Crematory, 2203 N Division St, Spokane, Washington.
