Richard A. Thain born July 17, 1943 to Joseph and Bertha Thain in Fargo, ND., passed away peacefully at his home in Spokane, WA. on March 29, 2022. He met the love of his life Diane Couture in band at Mead High School in 1960. He retired from Kaiser after 37 years in 2000, drove school bus for 2 years, and then worked with the City of Spokane as a boiler operator until he fully retired in 2007. He loved Bald Eagles, car shows, camping, softball, bowling, karaoke, and spending time with family. He spent his retirement playing Santa at various events, traveling, and rides in his convertible. He also enjoyed playing Bingo, and on occasion calling Bingo at the Eagles Lodge, where he got his nickname “The Big Kahuna”. His all-time favorite was spending time with his family and going to all of his grandchildren’s events. He was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather that will dearly be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Thain and Bertha Evans Thain, wife Patricia Diane Thain, and daughter Tami-Jo (Chuck) Brown. He is survived by his sister Julie (Harvey) Hale, two daughters Lisa (Dave) Stockton and Jodi (John) Spurgin. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on Saturday May 7th, 2:00 P.M. at 304 E. Regina Avenue Spokane, WA. 99218. Please wear your favorite flannel in memory of Rick.
