Robert E Houck was born in Denver to Norman and Ida Houck. He graduated from East High School in 1951 and served in US Army from 1952-54.  He attended the University of Denver and Regis University before marrying  Marianne Maher on September 7th, 1957. 

Starting in 1962, he worked in the insurance industry and advanced to the level of Vice President of the Rocky Mountain region.  Moved to Seattle in 1967 and then on to Spokane in 1975 and retired in 1990.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years Marianne Houck, 1 sister Norma Houck, 3 children Micheal Houck, Karen Houck Whitehead (Spouse David Whitehead), Chad Houck (Spouse Sheri Houck), 7 grandchildren, Monica Whitehead Cadagan, Christine Whitehead Malone, Mitchell Whitehead,  Lucas Houck, Laura Houck,  Landon Houck, Lyle Houck, and 1 great-grandchild Charlotte Malone.
