Young, Robert Joseph

Was born 11/24/1946 and passed away in his home 12/25/2020. A proud Shadle Highlander and Vandal that was devoted to his children Alexa Bruce (John Bruce) and Bo Young. Even more love was bestowed to his great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Wisteria. Rob spent many hours on a football stadium bench, basketball bleacher and or a lawn chair doing what he loved most watching his grandchildren play ball. This is what truly brought him joy; Dallas Matuszek (Brenna), Jackson Matuszek, Sydney Love (Andy), Zachery Bruce (Delaney), and Ellie Bruce.

This ladies man attended St. Francis of Assisi and later graduated High school from Shade Park where he was voted the friendliest guy and established his football running career.  Upon graduation he went to the University of Idaho where he was recently inducted into the hall of fame. He continued his football career with a short stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers and some time playing in Canada. 

Rob was self-employed most of his working career in construction and an entrepreneur with the recent patented heating and cooling building system RACooL ™. Rob will be remembered for the love he had for his family and his lifetime friendships. Rest in Peace Big Rob.

There will be a Rosary on Friday January 8th, 7:00pm at St. Thomas More Church with a viewing prior. The service will also be held at St. Thomas More Church Saturday January 9th at 12:00pm. There will be a reception/lunch following at Rob’s home.
