Theodore Nathaniel Engdahl III (Ted) was born in St. Paul, Minn. to Dr. Ted N. Engdahl Jr. and Adeline Mae (Oswald) Engdahl on July 13, 1940. Ted is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Tracy, and children Kristen (Joe) Deardon of San Diego, CA, Ted (Kim) Engdahl IV of Santa Margarita, CA, Peter (Sue) Engdahl of San Jose, CA, Kaitlin Powers-Engdahl of Spokane and Kendra (Brina) Powers-Engdahl of Big Island, HI. Additionally, Ted has 7 grandchildren, Carolanne, Ryan, Tyler, Teddy V, Jessica, Corryn, Wyatt, and 6 great grandchildren, Makena, Logan, Jax, Nova, Sky, and Ryder. He is also survived by three sisters who adored him, Raeann Engdahl, Stephanie (Tom) Connor and DeeDee (Robert) Tolles.

Ted was a track star in High School in San Jose, CA and continued running races throughout his life. Ted was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country in the 45th company of the Airborne Marines.

Ted’s professional career with the County of Santa Clara, spanned over 30 years. He worked in the Juvenile probation division and was devoted to enhancing the success of troubled youth. His co-workers thought the world of him as he mentored and fostered their personal growth and professional careers.

Ted’s devotion and compassion for his children and grandchildren was beyond measure. As much as he loved them, they loved him with all their hearts. He focused on wanting people to live to their fullest potential and impacted everyone he met. Ted will be lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.

A visitation will be held at Hennessey Funeral Home at 2203 N. Division, Spokane on 1-6-22 from 4-7 pm. The memorial service will be held at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church at 4102 S. Crestline, Spokane, WA 99223, on 1-7-22 at 12;00 noon followed by a reception at the Spokane Club.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hamblen Park Church at above noted address or Meals on Wheels, at 1222 W. Second Ave. Spokane, WA 99201.
